Agriculture Marketing Case Study

Helping an Award-Winning Agricultural Brand Drive Consumer Demand

See how Catalyst worked with Cornerstone Ranches to influence partner decision-making through consumer-facing communications.

CLIENT

At the Heart of the Agriculture Community

Cornerstone Ranches is a fifth-generation independent farm located in Washington's world-famous hop growing region, the Yakima Valley. The farm is known, most notably, for small-batch production and the active utilization of both traditional and modern horticultural processes that have led to multiple World Beer Competition Awards. Its reputation for high-quality yields have made it a favorite supplier among beer brands, from global leaders to small-batch craft breweries.

Challenge

Driving Business Demand with Consumer Awareness

The company competes against a wide range of independent and corporate farms across the Yakima and Columbia River Valley. Increasing supply has driven the need to go to grow the company’s reputation beyond traditional brokers, though, and begin to directly influence consumer purchasing decisions. That effort would take a range of strategic communications and other resources the company didn’t have “in-house” and didn’t have time to manage.

Solution

Empowering Small Farms & Ranches

Catalyst worked with the company's leadership team to create a direct-to-consumer demand generation strategy. It leveraged the company’s history as an award-winning independent hop producer to create demand for beer and other consumer packaged goods made with its hops. This included refreshed brand assets, a website, and other marketing materials under the ‘Craft is Freedom’ label that would help shape this narrative among brewers and consumers alike.
